1911: The first store was built by Mr. Deering, half way between the hall and the livery barn.
It was bought by George Swallow in 1911. Two of the Swallow sons (George Jr. & Henry) came in 1912 to help with the store.
1913: First Post Office was built (The Post Office was run by the Swallow family for 56 years from 1913 to 1968.)
The post office and store would stay open all day and half of the night, especially on Saturday nights when the entire family came to Rowley to visit with their neighbors and do their week's worth of shopping.
The General Store, which is still standing, was the Rowley Trading Post, which was built in 1920 and operated till 1973. The last owners and operators were the Clark family.
